I was a fashionista long before I became a Registered Nurse. But it wasn’t long before I realized having a curvier body type meant my scrubs didn’t always fit well. Choosing larger sized scrubs to fit my curves often left me with a boxy shape. Not the worst thing (I know) but I wanted to look stylish and feel comfortable at work. I started asking my colleagues if they too had this annoying problem, and then began talking to other healthcare professionals. I was amazed to hear similar complaints. But what stood out to me was the common desire for our scrubs to ‘feel good, look good, be comfortable, be practical’. I took my personal experience, blended it with the feedback from my peers and that’s how this curvy RN created Zhuri.

Some critics have said no one needs new, stylish scrubs, people are fine with the old ones. My response: why settle? Given the challenges of healthcare in Canada right now and the daily issues we face at work, I believe feeling good (chic & comfortable) on the job brings out our best selves.

I personally check, test and hand select every piece in our line. It’s my sincere hope that Zhuri medwear and accessories will help all healthcare professionals, from students to surgeons, feel a sense of pride in their work and their look.
